MRE (meal ready to eat)

Collapsing

stomach

on itself

impatient for results

What will become

of lunch

when supply chains

if they

when it

Thursday’s layoffs

I’ll buy

more 15-year

ready-to-eats

2026

they’ll expire

by then we may know

  1. Your feeling unexplained about my MRE poem is actually good feedback. I was trying to say more by not-saying than by saying, but if I didn't say enough, that could be an indication of where the poem might go in a revision. I tried to capture a feeling with phrases like "impatient for results" and "what will become of lunch / when supply chains..." The sense of uncertainty about the security of what's fundamental to living: food. In the face of worries about the world, economic changes, environmental collapse, and so on... That's the idea, or the nebulous feeling complex, behind what I was trying to say, or not-say...
